Marinus Energy Limited (MEL) is a fully Ghanaian
owned and registered company in Ghana that has been set up as a special purpose
company for the development, financing, construction, ownership and operations
of the 93MW Atuabo Combined Cycle Power Plant. This Project entails the
development, engineering, financing, construction, installation, testing and
commissioning of a 93MW Combined Cycle Power Plant located in Atuabo, Western
The key project sponsors are GTG Energy Limited
(GTG) and the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF). The
Atuabo Power Project is currently ranked as one of the most efficient and
least-cost additions to power generation in Ghana, and Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) fully supports this
Project and is the fuel supplier.
The Phase 1 of the Project covers the development
of a 65MW simple cycle power plant utilising two GE/Alstom Frame 6B 40MW gas
turbine generators. The Phase 2 of the Project combines the two simple cycle
GE/Alstom Frame 6B gas turbine generators into a combined cycle plant by the
addition of a steam turbine generator and associated infrastructure.
