The Project will be
implemented in multiple phases:
Phase 1 is designed to convert pentanes, a waste product
from the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) processing plant, into electricity
instead of flaring, thereby mitigating environmental hazards and contributing
to positive global climate change. The Project is also designed to utilise
natural gas and distillate to generate electricity thereby assuring fuel
security and fuel flexibility.
This engineering solution will contribute significantly to the overall generation mix in Ghana and also enable Ghana
National Gas Company (GNGC) to secure stable power for its current and future
operational requirements.

Phase 2 is
designed as a Hybrid/Gas to Power plant that adds up to 10MWp of solar PV
generation facilities on the same site as the 93MWe Atuabo Power Plant. The concept is to add up to 10MW of solar PV
plant in two phases of up to 5MW each on the same site as the 93MW Atuabo Power
Plant Project.
The
Solar addition will support the goals of energy transition and contribute
towards the planting of renewable energy assets in Ghana. Project benefits include:
§ Cheaper Electricity
§ Attract Green
Energy investors
§ Reduction of Green
House Gases (GHG) and improve climate sustainability
§ Contribute towards GoG goal of 10% renewable energy in the generation mix by 2030
§ Bulk Customers and Industries will benefit from the Hybrid structure
